He researched old tales of what could have been the source of this destruction — of how the world had fallen. Though his timeline was long past saving, he stepped into the past determined to save the Realm, and stop the Darkness, by changing the course of history itself. In this timeline, he succeeded, though not in ways he could predict. |

+ | Atlas was born as the son of Lex in the Lost Future of the Realm, each day a fight for survival as Atlas and the other survivors worked towards defeating the Darkness responsible for this dark future. Though Atlas would lose one of his arms to the monsters, he would push on nonetheless, replacing his lost arm with a massive weapon. He and his fellow survivors continued the fight... until their final stand against the Darkness failed. |
||
+ | |||
+ | Out of desperation, Atlas studied old books regarding crystal magic, and eventually gained the ability to manipulate time itself. After researching old tales for possible sources of the Darkness, Atlas was eventually forced back in time after being cornered by the monsters. |
||
+ | |||
+ | Arriving in the Shattered Desert of the past, Atlas encountered the Resistance. Using their power, he managed to prevent both them and the Magistrate from releasing the Darkness as was told in the tales from the future. |
||
+ | |||
+ | However, the Darkness would later be unleashed by the former warrior of Io known as Vora, who would come into conflict with Atlas and Lex in the town of Bazaar, before later coming into conflict again when Atlas gathered a group of champions to travel into the Shattered Desert and defeat the Darkness monster Yagorath before it was too late, which ultimately failed. Though Atlas would continue to fight the beast as it rampaged throughout the Realm. |
||
+ | |||
+ | With Yagorath currently defeated by Azaan, Atlas may possibly retire if the Realm truly is free from corruption. |

+ | Atlas is one of the front line champions in Paladins. His basic attack - Chrono-Cannon allows him to fire projectiles that deal 780 per shot. It can be charged for 1.4s, the longer the charging time the higher the precision and focus of the projectile. His Setback ability lets him fire a projectile that sends the enemy back to where they were 4 seconds ago. Stasis Field skill is used to deploy a shield for 5s that absorbs all incoming damage but enemies can pass through it. Second Chance allows Atlas to travel 5s into the past and his health is restored to the highest value it was in that period. This skill is also a handy escape tool. His ultimate lets him fire 3 shots that can freeze enemies in time for 4s. During that time they cannot move, attack or be attacked. Overall Atlas is a character that's best when used as a support tank for a main tank in the team. Most of his skills are very situational and need to be used in proper situation in order to maximize their performance. |

− | *Atlas is the confirmed future son of Lex. This can be seen in the card "Distant Memory." |
||
+ | |||
− | **In the same card, as well as stated here, Atlas' mother is not another champion, but a normal citizen. |
||
+ | *Atlas is Lex's son from the Lost Future, while his mother was a regular citizen and not another champion. |
||
− | *As implied here, Atlas may be around 30 years old. |
||
+ | *Whether or not Atlas personally knew his father was never fully decided on, though there is evidence leaning towards both sides either way. |
||
− | *In another timeline if Atlas was not a fighter, he would've been a farmer which is shown in the "Life Unlived" card art. |
||
+ | **In favor of Atlas having known his father, one of Atlas' idling lines references one of Lex's own idling lines. Additionally, Atlas mentions recognizing Valera from stories told to him by Lex. However, both of these could be explained as Atlas having heard these lines and stories from other people who knew his father. |
||
− | *Atlas has already changed things after coming back in time, as revealed here, and as expanded on here just the act of him going back changes things via the butterfly effect. |
||
+ | **In favor of Atlas having not known his father, Yagorath's teaser trailer shows Lex covered in acid and falling to the ground in Bazaar, with Lex additionally appearing identical to how he does in-game, potentially implying Lex died soon after Atlas was born. Additionally, Atlas' spawn chatter line with Lex implies he never got to fight alongside his father, which he always wanted to. However, it's possible Lex did survive the event shown in Yagorath's trailer, while it also being possible Lex didn't want Atlas to go into battle, or he died / disappeared before Atlas was ready to fight. |
||
− | *As revealed here, even if Atlas succeeds in saving the future, he won't be able to experience it himself. |

||
− | **It was later revealed here that a future version of Vora is the one responsible for tearing off Atlas' arm. |
||
+ | *Just the act of Atlas going back in time was enough for him to change things via the butterfly effect. |

− | *As mentioned here, Setback is a concentration of Chrono-Tech Energy. |
||
− | * |
+ | *It's been implied Atlas may not be capable of making any further huge leaps through time in the event Yagorath wins again. |
+ | *Lex supposedly warned Atlas about Vora, though how Vora knows that Lex is Atlas' father was never explained. |
||
− | *According to Vora's kill taunt against Atlas, "I'm the girl your father warned you about." (<sm2>Vora_TR_Taunt_Directed_Atlas.ogg</sm2>) Lex is the one who told Atlas about Vora. |
||
+ | *Following Yagorath's defeat at the hands of Azaan, Atlas will likely retire, as his goal has been accomplished. That is, assuming the Realm really is safe from the Darkness for good. |
||
− | *Despite Atlas seemingly only having a daughter in the alternate universe portrayed in Life Unlived (confirmed as such here), it's stated here his wife and daughter also exist in the dark future Atlas left behind. |
||
+ | *Even though the Realm has seemingly been saved from the Darkness, Atlas would never be able to experience a safe future himself, as there's a lot of sacrifice for him, even in victory. |
||
− | *Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall, it was discovered that Atlas would be around 6'1 or 185cm tall. |
||
+ | *If the Darkness hadn't arrived in the Realm and shattered the moon, Atlas would've lived a happy life as a farmer. |
||
+ | *There's conflicting evidence regarding whether or not Atlas ever had a family of his own in the lost future. Atlas ▶️ is a Front Line Champion in Paladins, added on March 27th, 2019.
Lore[ | ]
This is Atlas' official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
There is no light in the future, only an all-consuming Darkness. The Realm is lost. Atlas will be born into this dark future as the son of the legendary judge, Lex. Each day he fights to survive, and each night he finds solace in stories of the Realm that used to be. These stories give Realm-kind hope, but their final stand against the Darkness will fail tragically. All hope will be lost... save for one last glimmer.
In a desperate bid, Atlas studied old books of Crystal magic, and mastered the control of time. He researched old tales of what could have been the source of this destruction — of how the world had fallen. Though his timeline was long past saving, he stepped into the past determined to save the Realm, and stop the Darkness, by changing the course of history itself. In this timeline, he succeeded, though not in ways he could predict.
This is an unofficial version of Atlas' bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
Atlas was born as the son of Lex in the Lost Future of the Realm, each day a fight for survival as Atlas and the other survivors worked towards defeating the Darkness responsible for this dark future. Though Atlas would lose one of his arms to the monsters, he would push on nonetheless, replacing his lost arm with a massive weapon. He and his fellow survivors continued the fight... until their final stand against the Darkness failed.
Out of desperation, Atlas studied old books regarding crystal magic, and eventually gained the ability to manipulate time itself. After researching old tales for possible sources of the Darkness, Atlas was eventually forced back in time after being cornered by the monsters.
Arriving in the Shattered Desert of the past, Atlas encountered the Resistance. Using their power, he managed to prevent both them and the Magistrate from releasing the Darkness as was told in the tales from the future.
However, the Darkness would later be unleashed by the former warrior of Io known as Vora, who would come into conflict with Atlas and Lex in the town of Bazaar, before later coming into conflict again when Atlas gathered a group of champions to travel into the Shattered Desert and defeat the Darkness monster Yagorath before it was too late, which ultimately failed. Though Atlas would continue to fight the beast as it rampaged throughout the Realm.
With Yagorath currently defeated by Azaan, Atlas may possibly retire if the Realm truly is free from corruption.
Summary[ | ]
Atlas is one of the front line champions in Paladins.

Trivia[ | ]
Lore
- Atlas is Lex's son from the Lost Future,[2][3] while his mother was a regular citizen and not another champion.[4]
- Whether or not Atlas personally knew his father was never fully decided on,[5] though there is evidence leaning towards both sides either way.
- In favor of Atlas having known his father, one of Atlas' idling lines references one of Lex's own idling lines. Additionally, Atlas mentions recognizing Valera from stories told to him by Lex. However, both of these could be explained as Atlas having heard these lines and stories from other people who knew his father.
- In favor of Atlas having not known his father, Yagorath's teaser trailer shows Lex covered in acid and falling to the ground in Bazaar, with Lex additionally appearing identical to how he does in-game, potentially implying Lex died soon after Atlas was born.
- Atlas lost his arm to a more corrupted version of Vora, from the lost future.[6][7]
- However, it was later explained that this future version of Vora isn't actually the same character as the in-game Vora; instead being a different person that became corrupted by the Darkness.[8]
- The card which shows Atlas having just lost his arm is implied to be showing the failed last stand against the Darkness.[9]
- Atlas didn't know every element of what needed to be changed before going back in time.[10] This is largely due to Atlas having been forced to travel through time in order to escape an attack by various Darkness creatures.[11]
- Just the act of Atlas going back in time was enough for him to change things via the butterfly effect.[12][13]
- It's been implied Atlas may not be capable of making any further huge leaps through time in the event Yagorath wins again.[14]
- Lex supposedly warned Atlas about Vora, though how Vora knows that Lex is Atlas' father was never explained.[15]
- Following Yagorath's defeat at the hands of Azaan, Atlas will likely retire, as his goal has been accomplished. That is, assuming the Realm really is safe from the Darkness for good.[16]
- Even though the Realm has seemingly been saved from the Darkness, Atlas would never be able to experience a safe future himself, as there's a lot of sacrifice for him, even in victory.[17]
- If the Darkness hadn't arrived in the Realm and shattered the moon, Atlas would've lived a happy life as a farmer.[18][19]
- There's conflicting evidence regarding whether or not Atlas ever had a family of his own in the lost future. One developer claims that Atlas did indeed have a wife and daughter that he was forced to leave behind,[20] while a different developer claimed that Atlas never had a daughter, though doesn't comment on his wife.[21]
- Atlas has been implied to be around 30 years old give or take.[7]
- Though Atlas' eyes constantly glow in the present, they were once normal, with Atlas having had brown eyes.[22][23]
- While Atlas somewhat resembles Azaan, the two have no connection at all.[24]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Atlas would be around 6'5 or 198cm tall.

References
- Atlas' line "Gotta get back!" (▶️) is a reference to the opening theme song of Samurai Jack.
- The line "My old man had a saying about idle hands." (▶️) references a line spoken by Lex, the line in question being "Idle hands are a waste of time and talent, let's remedy that." (▶️)
- The emote "Walk Without Rhythm" references a segment of Snoop Dog's music video Drop It Like It's Hot.
Promotion
- Atlas' teasers can be seen here.
- (Teaser 1) "The Realm was lost. The Paladins, crushed."
- (Teaser 2) "Khan's armies were crushed. Lian's kingdom, routed. Even the mighty House Aico could not stand against the Darkness."
- (Teaser 3) "Yet love -- and life -- still blooms on the battlefield."
- (Teaser 4) "What was left of Realmkind, those forged in these end times, gambled all on one last stand. They gambled all, and lost."
- (Teaser 5) "But what if one could stop the Darkness from ever reaching this Realm?"
Concepts
- Atlas' first concept, back when he was only known as "Time Traveler",[26] was originally far simpler of a design, with simple armor, blue cloak, and arm gun. His eyes didn't glow, but there was a large scar over his left eye.[27]
- Concepts following this featured a huge variety of designs, most notable among these being Atlas now having both arms, rather than his weapon itself replacing one.[28]
- Following this, concept art for Atlas' weapon also show vastly different designs, notably featuring Pyre runes.[29]
- These Pyre runes would persist into future concepts, seemingly only being dropped late into development.[30][31]
- One of the original concepts for Atlas' ultimate involved him slowing down time for everyone in the match except himself, with some other type of benefit applied to his allies. Ultimately, the ability ran into too many technical problems and didn't feel good in practice.[32]
- The developers were once approached by an outside party interested in working with them, bringing along at least one known skin concept.[33] A post by GAME PILL on ArtStation reveals them to be this outside party, as well as the skin being intended for Terminus.[34] Looking at other posts by GAME PILL shows additional skin concepts that they may have pitched as well, including an old-fashioned skin for Atlas.[35]
Other
- Atlas is one of the few champions to have received an Announcer Pack.
- Atlas' sound effects incorporate the usage of piano.[36]
- In Vora's teaser trailer, Atlas' gun arm is mistakenly oriented upside down.[37]
- An alternate version of the artwork for Lost Legacy was used for one of Atlas' teasers. This alternate art removed the Darkness creatures from the image.
- An alternate version of the artwork for No Escape was used for another of Atlas' teasers. This alternate art featured Atlas covered in shadows.
Champion Skins
- Chronomancer
- This skin's name is based on Chronomancy, divination regarding time, such as the determination of lucky and unlucky days. It could also refer to a fictional magic school of time most well known for appearing in the DnD campaign Forgotten Realms.
- Last Hope
- This skin's name is based on Atlas considering himself humanity's last hope at survival, as can be heard in a few of his voicelines.
- Legionnaire
- Legionnaire Atlas is from a better version of the future, one where Atlas didn't need to go back in time,[38] as the Realm was able to develop weapons capable of stopping Yagorath before it reached the point of requiring time travel.[39]
- The monster that appears in the background of this skin's splash art is an alternate version of Yagorath featuring an early design of her.[40]
- This skin shares its naming with the Legionnaire mount and Legionnaire Viktor.
- The voiceline "Until all are one." (▶️) is a reference to the Transformers franchise, specifically the Autobot's iconic rallying cry "'Til All are One".
- Corrupted / Vile
- Various unused concepts for these skins show several alternate designs and unused recolors.
- One of these unused concepts even had splash art fully created for it, which was accidentally used in the Heart of Darkness patch notes for the Vile skin before quickly being replaced.
- Yagorath appears in these skins' splash arts.
- A figure resembling the Corrupted skin appears in the Eyes of the Beholder avatar.
- These skins share their theme with Corrupted Io and Frozen Moon Io.
- Various unused concepts for these skins show several alternate designs and unused recolors.
