This is Cassie's official bio currently found in her champion page in-game.


Watching all her friends leave the Greenwood to join the fight against the Magistrate, Cassie lamented the promise that bound her bloodline to her family's homeland and their House. When advice from Seris offered her an escape from her obligations, she jumped at the chance, even though she knew the sacrifice she made would haunt her.

Taking nothing but her father's enchanted crossbow and her faithful hunting bird, Zigs, she raced off to join the Resistance in their fight against the relentless Magistrate. However, she could not run forever, and is now forced to face her heritage head-on.

This is an unofficial version of Cassie's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding her. Sources can be found here.


Watching her friends leave Greenwood to join the Crystal War, Cassie, a member of a bloodline connecting back to the original Paladins, lamented the curse that prevented her bloodline from leaving their home; that is, until a mysterious oracle offered her advice that would allow her to finally leave her homeland, a chance which Cassie took, despite the sacrifices she knew would haunt her. After taking her father's crossbow and her faithful hunting bird Zigs, Cassie raced off to join the fight, where she would join the Resistance's side. She would later battle Terminus, and eventually be recruited by Atlas to help fight Yagorath deep in the Shattered Desert.

According to Atlas, in the Lost Future, Cassie would end up dying at some point.

This was Cassie's in-game bio prior to the The Damned Frontier update. It's no longer considered canon.

Raised in Cobalt Keep and daughter to the legendary huntmaster Arturos, Cassie snuck away from home to find adventure and freedom. Armed with her Father's bow and joined by her childhood companion Zigs, Cassie enters the lands of Crosswind Hold ready for any challenge.

Summary[]

Cassie is a versatile damage champion with high damage and range, light crowd control, and decent capabilities to deal with both high and low-health targets alike. While equipped for a variety of situations, she lacks specialization and is fairly reliant on her ability to keep her damage output up.

Skills[]

Cassie's Primary fire is her Crossbow, which fires fast, long-range bolts, capable of dealing remarkable damage up close or far away.
Her Secondary fire is Disengage, which fires a frost-bolt that knocks an enemy back and slows them.
Blast Shot is Her Primary ability, employing the use of an explosive bolt that does a sizable burst of damage to enemies caught in the blast, as well as slightly knocking them back.
Her movement ability is Dodge Roll; a grounded roll that allows Cassie to quickly move in the direction she's moving in.
Her ultimate ability, Scout, refills her ammo, grants her increased fire rate and movement speed, and sends out her hunting bird Zigs to reveal enemies to her allies as well as herself.

Cassie's talents provide her with the following:

  • After using Dodge Roll, dramatically increases Crossbow's damage for one shot, with Exaction.
  • Reduces the cooldown of Blast Shot while also increasing it's initial burst of damage with Impulse
  • After hitting an enemy with Disengage, Cassie's Crossbow will do additional damage based on the affected enemy's maximum health with Big Game.

Most of Cassie's cards focus on reducing cooldowns, modifying abilities, and providing sizable healing to Cassie.

Lore

  • It's been implied Cassie may have left or is planned to leave the Resistance and join the Magistrate, though this remains to be seen.[2]
  • Cassie is part of a lineage that connects back to the original Paladins.[3]
  • Cassie is also connected to the Greenwood hero known as Arturos, with it seemingly pointing to the idea that Arturos may be Cassie's ancestor and / or how she connects back to the original Paladins.[4] In the alpha lore, he was her father, though it's not know what their exact relationship is in the modern lore.
  • Cassie seems to have some connection to Pip and Ruckus.[5]
    • This is also backed up somewhat by Pip's taunts towards Cassie.[6]
  • Though a piece of artwork created for one of Cassie's release anniversaries depict her as having received Zigs as a gift when the two of them were young, the artwork isn't canon.[7][8]
  • Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Cassie would be around 5'3 or 161cm tall.

  • One of Cassie's jokes, "The keep is under siege, we're fighting an army of goblins and robots, and I have a bow and arrow." (▶️), is a reference to a quote from Hawkeye in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron.


Concepts

  • Cassie had several icon concepts prior to the final choice being settled on.[10]
  • Cassie originally had a slightly different look for her redesigned appearance, which still showed some of her midriff, but it was ultimately replaced with her design.[11]


Other

  • Cassie was one of the first playable characters in Paladins.
  • In early versions of Paladins, Zigs used to be a robot hawk but was changed before Closed Beta started, Cassie also used to wield a bow, before having it changed to a crossbow alongside her visual update in Open Beta 40. Her ultimate ability also used to be a standard ability. Gameplay of all these differences can be seen here.
  • In an old trailer for Paladins,[12] Cassie was depicted using voice lines that would eventually be given to her Night Bane and Blood Moon skins. Oddly, in trailers prior to this, Cassie was depicted with her current voice. It is unknown if this was an error or a planned change that was ultimately scrapped.
  • Cassie did not receive her visual rework in the now-defunct Chinese version of the game; it's unknown why.
    • The same also holds true for the similarly defunct mobile game 'Paladins Strike'.
  • The crystals on Cassie's weapon glow while using the Exaction talent as an indicator of when your shots will do additional damage.
  • Cassie was originally free, but eventually changed to cost 15,000 Gold or 100 Crystals in the RWBY update.
  • The emote 'Birds of a Feather' mistakenly appeared early in the Trickshot update, where it was unobtainable, but viewable as 'Bird Call' among Cassie's MVP poses.[13]
  • When not counting recolors, Cassie has gone for one of the longest periods of time between skin releases, with her Dragoncaller skin being released nearly 4 years prior to her WHIPPED CREAM skin, which had broken the previous record held by the gap between Torvald's Dark Lord and Berserker skins. Though this record has since been broken again with characters such as Moji.
  • Cassie had an unused skin hidden in older versions of the game known as the Red Keep skin, with it being a red variant of the Northern Watch skin.
  • In older versions of Paladins, there used to be a number of additional recolors of default champions. For Cassie, these recolors included the Amaranthine and Azure skins.
  • Having been present in the mobile game 'Paladins Strike', Cassie received unique skins exclusive to Strike. These skins include Headhunter Cassie, Love's Arrow Cassie, Ranger Cassie, and Verdant Cassie.

    • This skin's name is based on Coral.


  • Northern Watch
    • This skin is a reference to hunters who dwell up North in the mountains.
    • An unused red recolor of this skin known as the Red Keep skin was present in the data of older versions of Paladins, but was eventually removed.


  • Timber / Tinder
    • Timber was Cassie's original appearance, before being changed to the Tinder skin in Closed Beta 27. It was then changed to its current design in Open Beta 40.
      • This change was not implemented in the now-defunct Chinese version of the game or Paladins Strike; it's unknown why.
    • The Timber skin appears in the Greenwood Friend avatar.
    • The Tinder skin appears in the :cassie: Steam emoticon.
