Ska'drin are a race in the Realm. They're generally humanoid creatures with tails and thick horns on their heads. However, many shave off their horns and either tuck or bind their tails away to try and blend in.[1][2] While generally peaceful, the ska'drins have a lot of magic, with many rune based spells and magic originating from them.[2] Despite their history, no one bothered recording their history in an accessible way, at least until Torvald began working with their technology, with Torvald currently being the leading Magistrate expert on these ancient runes.[3][4] The ska'drins also greatly care about nature[5][6] and have connections to the Thousand Hands Guild.[7] They also have several of their own deities.[8]
Most ska'drins originate from the south[9] and largely used to live on the remote Temple Isles (and possibly still do to an extent)[10] that were once protected by Makoa but after he was summoned to the mainland by an unknown individual or force during the Crystal War, the island is now unprotected. Many ska'drins are currently in hiding or on the run,[11] with some of them being in Crosswind Hold.[7] Almost all of them hide the fact they're ska'drin or at the very least don't go around announcing it to everyone.[12]
This habit of hiding away comes from the discrimination they receive from almost every other race in the Realm.[13] This has also caused them to have almost been wiped out twice, resulting in their fearful lifestyle.[2] Talus himself once almost lost his family to an angry mob for this reason, as stated in his bio.
The root of their discrimination is a combination of the fact they didn't help fight off the Goblin Scourges due to living away from the danger on their islands, as well as the fact their horns and tails make them a more easily identifiable target, explaining their habit of hiding these features.[14]

Trivia[ | ]
- What appears to be a ska'drin mother and child can be seen on Bazaar in Octavia's card Entrenched, though despite this, the ska'drin and Followers of Io don't have a super explicit connection.[16]
- The ska'drin may have a connection with Io herself, based on the "Runic Fire" that surrounds the Shattered Desert map.[17][18]
- Though the ska'drin are widely hated, the only instances of explicit discrimination against them being shown are one of Khan's jokes and a brief scene from the A Conflict Reignited lore cinematic.[19][20]
