Strix ▶️ is a Damage Champion in Paladins, added on August 23rd, 2017.
Lore[]
This is Strix's official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
Having spent most of his life in the military, Strix was an invaluable member of the Sentinels, tasked with training their elite sharpshooters like Kinessa. He was reassigned after the unit was disbanded — sent to the front lines with the regular army as it put down the Resistance.
Always the calm and composed professional, he is the master of stealth and camouflage, able to pick off high-value targets before the enemy is even aware of his presence — or that they are under attack at all. Now, all he asks is where he should set his sights next.
This is an unofficial version of Strix's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
Strix has spent most of his life in the military, naturally landing him in the elite Magistrate unit known as the Sentinels, where he was tasked with training their other sharpshooters such as Kinessa; however following the failed final mission and subsequent disbanding of the group, Strix was reassigned to the front lines in battles against the Resistance.
At a later point, following Corvus' release of Raum, as with most of the Magistrate, Strix was not satisfied with him and decided to investigate in an attempt to figure out what was going on behind the scenes. During this, he met up with Tyra, who wanted to know the same thing, and as the two shared no individual bad blood with another from their time in the Sentinels, they decided to work together, later coming into conflict with Corvus directly. Despite this, Strix is still part of the Magistrate.
In the Lost Future, Strix would seemingly be killed by the Darkness in the Magistrate's Archives.
This was Strix's in-game bio prior to the The Damned Frontier update. It's no longer considered canon.
Having spent most of his life in the military, Strix was an invaluable member of the Sentinels, tasked with training their elite sharpshooters. He was reassigned after the unit was disbanded, sent to the front lines with the regular army as it prepared to put down the resistance.
Always the calm and composed professional, he is the master of stealth and camouflage, able to pick off high value targets before the enemy is even aware of his presence--or that they are under attack at all.
Summary[]
Strix is one of two snipers along with Kinessa. He is the first champion capable of switching between his primary and secondary weapons with different abilities. His Talon Rifle deals high damage per shot, with headshots dealing massive damage, forcing most of his enemies to immediately retreat and hide. His pistol deals less damage but fires rapidly and is useful for engaging in close-quarters situations. Flare reveals hidden enemies in a large area and can be directly shot at enemies to deal damage on hit and through a burn effect over time. Stealth makes him invisible and gives him a boost in movement speed. His ultimate is a flashbang grenade, which can damage and blind his enemies for a period of time.

Trivia[]
Lore
- Strix is still very much part of the Magistrate despite fighting against Corvus in his teaser trailer. He had grown suspicious of what was going on behind the scenes with Corvus and decided to investigate, where he encountered Tyra, who wanted to know the same thing, and as the two shared no bad blood due to past experiences in the Sentinels, decided to temporarily work together.[1][2]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Strix would be around 6' or 182cm tall.

References
- Strix's name may have be taken from a mythological owl of bad omen.
- The kill taunt against Ash "How many shots to get to the center of a frontline?" (▶️) is a reference to a phrase commonly assosiated with Tootsie Pops.
- The line "Remain silent, and be thought a fool. Or speak, and remove all doubt." (▶️) is a reference to a similar quote by Abraham Lincoln, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."
- The emote "360 No Scope" references a technique in games of spinning a character 360 degrees before firing and killing an enemy with a sniper rifle without using the scope.
- One of Strix's intro quotes references the 2003 song Many Men by 50 Cent
Other
- Strix is tied with Khan, Lian, and Jenos as having received the most unique skins from Battle Passes, though Strix obtained one minor skin as well (this being the 'Bad Mother Clucker' skin in the first Battle Pass).
- In older versions of Paladins, there used to be a number of additional recolors of default champions. For Strix, these recolors included the Ghillie skin.
- Having been present in the mobile game 'Paladins Strike', Strix received a unique skin exclusive to Strike. This skin would be Shrouded Sentinel Strix.
Champion Skins
Phoenix
- A phoenix is a mythological bird that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again.
Raven
- You know what a raven is.
Coldsnap
- This skin may possibly be named after a weather phenomenon known as a cold wave, also occasionally referred to as a cold snap.
- This skin was a promotional reward for attending Hi-Rez Expo in 2018; it shares this trait with HRX 2018 Drogoz, Expo 2018 Seris, and Silvertongue Vivian.
- This skin shares its theme with Coldsnap Furia.
Bad Mother Clucker
- It's Strix wearing a chicken hat. That name though, yeah, that's... that's not one we cover here.
Switch
- This skin is a promotional skin for players who connect their Nintendo account.
Infiltrator
- The line "I can spend 6 days in cover waiting for a target. Don't get impatient." (▶️) is a reference to real-life snipers, who often wait extended periods of time to take a single shot.
- This skin's splash art appears as a spray.
- This skin was removed from all chests it was in, for it to later appear as a Twitch Prime reward; it shares this trait with Firecracker Willo, Xeno-Buster Ash, Carnival Ying, and Omega Dredge.

Mercenary
- This skin is heavily based on the Mandalorian, who were a clan-based ethnic group from Star Wars.

- These skins shares their theme with Remix Seris, Remix Pip, Remix Jenos, Raeve Maeve, Neon Demon Grohk, and Salt Io.
Hustler / Swindler
- These skins are known as 'The Phantom Hand'. They're wanted for counting cards, loading dice, dirty dealing, impersonating a member of the clergy, improperly filed tax returns, and armed snobbery.[3]
- The line "Well, forgive me if I don't shake your hand, pardner." (▶️) is a reference to the film Tombstone.
- These skins appear during Khan's emote "Orders" when using either the Safecracker Khan or Saboteur Khan skins.
