VII ▶️ is a Flank Champion in Paladins, added on January 26th, 2022.
Lore[ | ]
This is VII's official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
Since the very beginning, the Realm has been in peril. Be it calamitous threats rivaling the Scourges of old, or the unbridled ambitions of evil men, fate has always conspired against Realmkind.
It was in defiance of this injustice that the Outer Tribunal was formed. But for true justice to prevail, the order would need more than pious Judges. They'd need an Executioner. Someone unburdened by the trappings of mercy who would ensure that judgements cast were judgements kept.
VII is one whose past is chronicled upon the gravestones of the wicked. He is the grim reaper; a collector of tithes made in guilty blood. Like a phantom, he undertakes missions that would break most men, employing ruthless force and deadly precision. Like death itself, you'll never see his face until you meet him.
This is an unofficial version of VII's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
A merciless assassin of the Outer Tribunal who seemingly lost everyone close to him in the past.
At some point, he would attack Corvus in a camp set up near Serpent Beach, killing many of his men and leaving Corvus for dead.
Summary[ | ]
Seven (VII) is a mobile flank character with a heavy reliance on accuracy, decision making, active play and cooldown management. He has three different fire modes available that can be switched in battle. The mode used has an influence on the accuracy and the effective distance, which usually reaches medium ranges. Seven can grapple to walls with his Grappling Hook and stick to them becoming stealthed. Thus, he can overcome long distances, hold out at the wall and surprise enemies from ambush. In close combat, he uses his Explosive Dodge to avoid enemy attacks and lure them into his explosive trap. He can also pull lightweight opponents (non-Frontlines) into the trap with his Grappling Hook. His ultimate ability can help him out of a pinch by scaring away enemies.

Trivia[ | ]
Lore
- VII isn't his real name, with said real name currently not being known.[1]
- VII's true face is currently planned to never be revealed.[2]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that VII would be around 6' or 182cm tall.
Cameos
VII appears in the following content:
- Avatars
Notable Characters that appear in VII's own content includes:
- Cinematics and Trailers
- Corvus - VII's Teaser Trailer
- Cards
- Corvus - Nasty Surprise
- Lex - Rapid Response

- Betty La Bomba - VII Splash Art*
References
- The line "Hello death... my old friend..." (▶️) is a reference to the song The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel.
- The line "Operation 140.15 completed." (▶️) references one of the frequencies used on the radio in the Metal Gear franchise.[3]
- The card Red Room may be a reference to rumored "Red Rooms" on the Dark Web, which are supposedly livestreams featuring horrible acts of violence being inflicted on individuals.
- The name of VII's ultimate ability "Decree 77" may be a reference to Order 66 from Star Wars.
- The "Confused Tribunal" emote is a reference to the Confused Travolta meme.
Promotion
- VII's promotion was slightly different from usual champion promotion of the time. VII's first teaser featured a link to the official Paladins Discord server, where typing in !seven would give out the message "Tribunal".
- Following this, heading to this site would bring you to a restricted access page featuring a login. Inputting "VII" as the username and "Tribunal" as the password would allow one to access some of the Schism update patch notes, though information regarding VII is absent.
- Influencer packages would also continue to be used to promote VII. From December 31st, 2021 to January 2nd, 2022, packages were sent to several Paladins influencers. These packages included VII's mask, as well as a small card, which on one side, had the date "01.05.22" (which was the date for that year's Hi-Rez Showcase event, and by extension, the Schism update show), while the other side generally featured a short message.
- ReninX's package can be seen here, with the message on the card reading "As the law is written".
- MekaXKitty's package can be seen here, with the message on the card reading "Tithes made in guilty blood that I alone collect...".
- frogcap's package can be seen here, with seemingly no message being on the card.
- Though while only three packages were shared on the official Paladins Twitter, according to a special video uploaded following VII's release, there were actually seven of these packages in total, each with their own message. According to the video, the influencers and messages are as follows.
- ReninX's message read "As the law is written..."
- Apxche's message read "So shall it be..."
- NTBees' message read "As executioner of the Outer Tribunal..."
- frogcap's message read "It falls upon me..."
- Gloozi's message read "To ensure that judgements cast..."
- Tarden's message read "Are judgements kept..."
- MekaXKitty's package read "Tithes made in guilty blood that I alone collect..."
- VII's standard teasers can be found here:
- (Teaser 1) "For true justice to prevail, the order requires more than pious Judges. They need an Executioner."
- (Teaser 2) "Some try to bargain with me. But justice cannot be bought."
- (Teaser 3) "If it needs to be done, I will get it done. You will not leave this battlefield."
- (Teaser 4) "The Outer Tribunal has no room for mercy - the Realm must be kept in check at all costs."
- (Teaser 5) "I am VII, the Right Hand of the Tribunal. And I am your final sentence."
Concepts
- VII had many early unused designs prior to his final appearance being settled on. Some with huge differences, others with only minor adjustments.[4][5][6]
- VII also had several additional unused recolor skins.[7]
Other
- Salt was originally intended to become a champion rather than a skin, but was eventually either replaced or changed into VII.[8]
- VII is the first champion to lack any Top Play lines following the removal of the system in the Sands of Myth update, as other champions prior to VII following the removal of the system still had lines for Top Play recorded, though they went unused. Champions prior to the system being added had other lines reworked for the system, making VII one of the only characters in the entire game to have no lines used in any form for Top Play.
- Prior to VII's official reveal, the artwork that appeared when loading the PTS of the Schism update initally featured a crudely drawn low effort version of VII's actual splash art.
- VII's the first champion to release with more than 2 recolors.
- VII's codename was "Gold Skull".[9][10]
- An alternate version of the artwork for Night Watch with the mirror in the background removed was used for one of VII's teasers.
