Yagorath is a Front Line Champion in Paladins, added on February 3rd, 2021.
Lore
Your joys and hopes. Your fears and doubts. All your petty conflicts. Utterly devoid of meaning. She is Yagorath, the Devourer. She is what it is to consume – absolutely. Everything that is not already her is assimilated, spreading her being across the universe in a never-ending hunger. Momentarily weakened by the futile actions of a broken goddess, she now emerges to bring an end to what was started – the only end that could possibly be.
Summary
Yagorath is a front line champion with a very big health pool. She is a stance switching champion swapping between two forms with her ability Form Swap: her Planted form, where she is unable to move, and her Travel form, with less damaging capability, but higher mobility. This mobility can be further expanded with Acceleration in Travel form. Her passive ability Armored Carapace grants her damage reduction while she is in planted form. Due to her massive size, she is also immune to some forms of Crowd Control, instead having them converted into a stun. Her primary fire creates acid pools in both stances at low to medium ranges. Enemies that contact the acid pool will be slowed and damaged over time. Her alternate fire in Planted form, Piercing Quills, shots out Piercing Quills that deal damage and explode in a small area. Her ability Hardening in Planted form grants her great survivability. It gives damage reduction and deals damage to nearby enemies based on ability duration. With Primal Vision in Travel form, she can reveal nearby enemies to allies. Her ultimate, Devour, is only usable in Planted form and gives her a new health pool. Yagorath selects an enemy to pull in and devour them, executing them in the process. If Yagorath's Health pool is depleted before they are devoured, she will drop the enemy and be momentarily stunned.

Trivia
- Despite seeming as if Yagorath herself is the Darkness, as stated here and here, Yagorath is both separate, but also only a piece of a much larger threat from beyond the Realm.
- Although Yagorath looks and acts incredibly evil, she does not consider herself evil, as she views the other characters as food, or as though she's stepping on ants, as revealed here.
- As mentioned here and here, Yagorath grows larger and more powerful as she consumes mass, with the Yagorath in-game being a sort of "stage-0".
- Yagorath has consumed other worlds prior to the Realm, as stated in one of her taunts (▶️), as well as implied in her kill taunt against Grover (▶️).
- As implied here, when Yagorath grows large enough, she may be able to create creatures such as the ones that attacked Atlas in his teaser trailer.
- As explained here, Yagorath does not physically speak with her mouth, but instead uses some unknown form of thought projection. It's also explained Yagorath may not be projecting words in particular.
- It was explained here that in Yagorath's teaser trailer, the champions are implied to have brought foot soldiers and grunts to aid them, but they weren't shown due to the focus being on playable characters.
- While it may appear Yagorath fled from Rei and Khan after attacking them in the former's trailer, she instead only left to attack others on the battlefield.[1]
- Yagorath appears as part of Vora's voice pack, this being prior to Yagorath's reveal.
- As stated here, the monster that appears in the background of Legionnaire Atlas' splash art is an alternate version of Yagorath featuring an early design of her.
- Both the pre and post rework versions of Magistrate's Archives appear in Yagorath's cards. The pre-rework version appears in Raze and Burn, while the modern version appears in Last Efforts and Extermination.
- Barik and Strix appear in the card Collateral Damage.
- Pip, Moji, and Pepper appear in the card Deadly Pursuit.
- Vora appears in the card Dreadful Compact, as well as in Yagorath's splash art.
- Karne appears in the card End Of An Era.
- Viktor's old and modern designs both appear in the card Futile Efforts.
- Octavia appears in the card Last Efforts, this being prior to her reveal as a champion.
- Io and Atlas appear in the card Out Of Time. Furia and Imani also appear in the larger version of the card.
- Atlas also appears in the card Towering Presence.
- Corvus, Terminus, and Seris appear in the card The Great Worm.
- Yagorath appears in Octavia's cards Fire and Maneuver, Getting Jumpy, Vantage Point, and Vicious Circle.
- Yagorath appears in Rei's card Threat and Subject.
- Atlas, Lex, Ash, Sha Lin, Cassie (modern design), Viktor (modern design), Strix, and Vora (default and Seal Guardian skin) all appear in Yagorath's teaser trailer.
- Yagorath appears in Octavia and Rei's teaser trailers.
- Yagorath appears in The Maw and Birthday Party Yagorath avatars.
- Yagorath also appears in the Paladins' 3rd Birthday spray.
- The joke "I find your lack of limbs... disturbing." (▶️) references a line spoken by Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV.
- Yagorath's kill taunt against Koga "Yes, I am going to eat that; after you." (▶️) references Koga's line "You gonna eat that?" (▶️).
- The joke "What? You don't like the spikes?" (▶️) may be a reference to Paladins artist ThunderBrush and his fondness of spikes, which occasionally leads to annoyance from some of the Paladins community.
- Yagorath's nature of moving from planet to planet, devouring them all in an effort to satiate her endless hunger is reminiscent of the Marvel character Galactus.
- Yagorath is also similar to the Tyranids from Warhammer 40k.
- As with previous champions, in order to promote Yagorath, Paladins artist Thunderbrush would change his Twitter profile picture and banner a number of times. The first change occurred on October 2nd, 2020 (prior to Vora releasing) where he would change his profile picture to this image.
- The next change would come on December 1st, 2020, where he would change his banner to this image, which would later be revealed as the lower portion of Yagorath's default splash art.
- The final change would occur on December 15th, 2020, which featured his banner being changed once again to this image, which would later be revealed as being an edited version of Yagorath's card Dreadful Compact.
- Yagorath would also be teased in other manners. A special piece of artwork was posted on the official Paladins Twitter on December 25th, 2020 in order to celebrate Christmas. In the image, there are various teasers of Yagorath, including a number of spiked red tentacles, a partially obscured stocking that appears to have Yagorath's name, as well as a picture of Yagorath above the fireplace.
- Another part of Yagorath's promotion was influencer packages. From January 3rd, 2020 to January 6th, 2020, packages were sent to various Paladins influencers. These packages were sent by Atlas from his original timeline, as revealed in said promotions, and each contained a satchel, inside of which were unique letters, as well as an object relating to the specific character discussed in the letter.
- AndrewChicken's package can be viewed here, while the letter specifically can be viewed here. This package came with a torn piece of cloth, most likely belonging to Viktor.
- The letter reads as follows: "Viktor found himself prey to an unrelenting hunger. Like an inexorably grinding millstone, the beast tore through every obstacle set before it in pursuit of its quarry. There was no escape for the Lone Wolf."
- KewneDragon's package can be viewed here, while the letter specifically can be viewed here. This package came with three feathers, most likely belonging to Strix.
- The letter reads as follows: "Strix fired upon the mountain of hate that was the Maw made manifest. The creature reeled back as it rained down a grim ichor. Everything the ravenous vile touched was burned away in an instant, and Ghost Feather was no more."
- Syberbolt's package can be viewed here, while the letter specifically can be viewed here. This package came with a ring encrusted with a red gem, most likely belonging to Karne.
- The letter reads as follows: "Karne stood his ground before the monstrosity as it unfurled, its cavernous maw festooned with jagged outcrops and cruelly sharped bones. Beyond those gnashing teeth, there was only darkness: the last thing the Magister would ever see."
- Kreeper's package can be viewed here, while the letter specifically can be viewed here. This package came with a small portion of blonde hair, most likely belonging to Valera.
- The letter reads as follows: "Valera, who tamed mountains and felled dragons, rose up once again to defend the Realm. She met the beast in battle, trading blow for blow with the behemoth, but to no avail. Even she was overwhelmed by the endless maw."
- AndrewChicken's package can be viewed here, while the letter specifically can be viewed here. This package came with a torn piece of cloth, most likely belonging to Viktor.
- Initially, Vora was meant to be more monstrous in appearance, but it was soon decided to split her monstrous side off into a "spin-off" champion, to allow Vora herself to shine more as a character. This spin-off champion would turn into Yagorath, as stated here.
- Vora and Yagorath had their voice packs recorded at the same time, as revealed here.
- As revealed here, Yagorath was originally going to move by digging through the ground, but it was instead decided she should roll around due to potential odd interactions with thin platforms.
- As can be seen in concept art, Yagorath's design was originally slightly different, featuring a more insect-like design, and with only one set of claws near her mouth.[2]
- She was also originally meant to fire projectiles from her claw arms, as revealed here.
- Though Yagorath is the only champion with lines related to New Years and Valentines Day publically available (▶️ ▶️), it was later stated here that all champions have lines related to these and many other holidays in the event a trailer involving a champion is released around one of these holidays.
- Two alternate versions of the card Extermination exist. One of them features a slightly different sky, and also doesn't feature Yagorath's wings. The other version is the same as the other, but doesn't feature Yagorath, as the image was used for promotional material prior to her reveal.
- An alternate version of the card Dreadful Compact exists. In this alternate art, Vora is covered in shadows.
- An alternate version of Yagorath's icon can be seen featured on the official Paladins champion site. The image can be seen here, and noticeably is an image of Yagorath's in-game model in a different pose.
- As revealed here, Yagorath originally had a different splash art.
- As revealed here, Yagorath's sound effects apparently incorporate the usage of chicken salad and macaroni.
- Yagorath is the only champion that can't ride a mount.
- Yagorath and Rei are the only champions who do not have weapons.
- Grave Worm
- This skin may be named after a heavy metal band of the same name.
- Caustic
- Caustic is the ability to burn or corrode orgagnic tissue via chemicals.
- Though marked as 'Exclusive' in-game, this skin is intented to be 'Limited', as mentioned various times such as here.
